Pilates Meets Neuroscience- two incredible client experiences

We recently finished the last live call for the course, although there is limitless access to the support, resources and video libraries so you can continue to review, absorb and apply all the knowledge & practical skills.

Nervous system training is standing so much in the spotlight at the moment, my social media is filled with neuro-hacks which may help or hinder your clients when used without deeper understanding.  I designed this course to explore applied neurology through the Pilates teacher lens in both individual & group settings within our framework. It was important to demonstrate the WHY a drill would work, WHO would benefit the most & HOW to create long term neurological adaptions.

The incredible results & benefits your clients have found across such a wide range of abilities, goals & needs have been so rewarding to see. You have reported results from greater accuracy, improved strength & unbelievable changes to mobility to better sleep & pain reduction.

Here are just two of the wonderful client experiences, shared by Designed Pilates

CLIENT 1-GENETIC NEUROLOGICAL CONDITION CAUSING LOWER LIMB SPASTICITY

This client is very clear (& visible to see) that her right-side brain pathways are blocked & she experiences right lower back pain due to her bodytilting so much. When we move on the Reformer (which she loves) she talks through her movement which helps to manage control of the movements. After a few sessions we introduced the neurological drills, starting with Proprioception work & we focused all the drills on the right side. Before the drills, placing her right foot down onto the Footbar was a challenge – I guided her as the ’target’ wasn’t accessible. After just one set of Proprioceptive drills, that target was found! Her words were “my brain literally just opened up for me”!

CLIENT 2-HYSTERECTOMY & ENDOMETRIOSIS

Following surgery & working in close collaboration with a local Chiropractor, we had focused movement goals. After a couple of sessions, I introduced her to the neurological exercises. We spent a dedicated session working through the assessments & movement drills. We found our focus to be ‘midline’ which mirrors the surgery area & very quickly identified breathwork, visual & jaw drills as high pay off drills. The client went away with knowledge to complete homework, & came back the following week with more freedom of movement & an increased sensation around the scar area, where it was previously very numb. We now start every session with the high pay off drills & will keep evolving as strength returns.

A famous quote for Joe Pilates is,

“Contrology is complete coordination of body, mind & spirit”

By enhancing your Pilates sessions with neuro-based movements definitely achieves this goal.

Pilates Meets Neuroscience will run again in November 2026. Everyone who has already attended is free to join again. Click here for more information
